FAQs

Shipping goods through London Gateway is a straightforward process with GP Logistics. Simply provide us with the shipment details, preferred schedule, and any specific requirements, and our team will handle the rest. We manage the booking, complete all necessary documentation, coordinate with the port, arrange transport, and facilitate customs clearance to ensure a smooth and efficient cargo movement.

Once all necessary paperwork is provided/submitted for the goods being imported, our team will coordinate shipment’s arrival. If you require our customs clearance services, our system integrates with HMRC system to ensures timely processing. Once goods are cleared the port will unload the container and will place it on the terminal. We work closely with the port to arrange cargo release and final delivery.

For LCL shipments, the process is similar, but cargo is deconsolidated at the port or an authorized warehouse before final distribution.

For exported containers, it is essential to provide all required documentation before cargo reaches the port. Goods must be properly packaged and labelled. Upon request, our customs agents can handle all formalities. It is important to mention that every container loaded onto a vessel or truck requires a Verified Gross Mass (VGM). It is crucial to provide the exact weight of shipment, including packaging as regulations are in place to protect integrity of infrastructure, equipment and other shippers’ cargo. Once goods are cleared, we will coordinate with the port and shipping line to load the cargo. After the vessel departs, we will monitor the shipment’s progress and provide updates until it reaches its final destination.

A Verified Gross Mass (VGM) is mandatory for container loading. If you do not have a VGM, we can arrange for your cargo to be weighed at a certified facility and submit the declaration on your behalf to ensure compliance with SOLAS regulations.

Our team actively tracks shipments and provides updates throughout the process. If you require regular tracking and proactive notifications, this can be highlighted to your representative at the GP Logistics.

Containers may be placed on hold for various reasons, including:

· Documentation errors or missing paperwork
· Inspections by customs such as Port Health or Border Force
· Payment delays or outstanding port charges
· HMRC security or compliance flags

Our experienced team works directly with the relevant authorities to resolve any issues quickly, minimising delays and ensuring smooth cargo movement.
